Kempinski on the cliffs of Barbaros Bay is Bodrum at its most untouched: 70,000 square metres on the shore of the bay, away from the peninsula's bustle but not cut off from the world.
The rooms take their cue from traditional Bodrum summer houses: a Mediterranean palette, Turkish ornament in the details and balconies looking over the turquoise Aegean.
The residences in the nature reserve, completed in June 2019, are a separate story: their own cove, a private Blue Flag beach and infinity pools. If the budget allows, this is the format that shows the resort at its fullest.
The gastronomy draws on carefully chosen flavours from across Turkey and the Aegean coast; the restaurants and bars double as scenic settings, with signature menus, cocktails and a serious list of vintage wines.
The spa looks straight onto the Aegean: treatment rooms, an indoor pool, a jacuzzi, hammam, sauna and steam rooms; the fitness centre draws up training programmes individually.
A resort for discerning couples and anyone who wants seclusion without leaving civilisation behind.
