Honest review
'The Turkish Maldives' is what they call D Maris Bay, one of the most beautiful addresses on the Turkish coast: a sheltered bay on the Datça peninsula, mountains and pines all around, no wind and no waves.
The architecture follows the terrain: the residential building is up on the rocks, the beaches and restaurants below. Down to the main beach you go by funicular or buggy — or on foot by the stairs, and the views are worth it; a boat runs to the other beaches, the ride takes literally a couple of minutes.
There are five beaches, each with loungers, a restaurant and a bar; on some you can rent a pavilion. The sand everywhere is imported and snow-white.
Breakfast is included in the stay — a buffet at The Terrace: fresh fruit, gözleme with various fillings, pancakes, several kinds of olives and cheeses, freshly squeezed juices.
The transfer is well thought out: a Mercedes seating up to 8 from the airport and back, a meet-and-greet in the arrivals hall with help with the luggage; for an extra charge — an Airbus EC145 helicopter, 25 minutes.
Who it suits: discerning couples and small parties who have already seen classic Turkey and want a level higher.
