Craving the Maldives without the long flight? BIJAL near Manavgat is exactly that: 19 villas, pine trees, bougainvillea and barefoot calm an hour from Antalya airport. We toured every villa — from one bedroom to four.
Our advice on categories is simple: every villa comes with a heated pool and its own garden, so paying up for size only makes sense for big families. A couple will have room to spare in the One Bedroom Villa: high ceilings, linen, a two-part dressing room, an open-air bathtub. The wine fridge and minibar are restocked daily, and the butler is on call around the clock.
On food: breakfast at Club House is a cold buffet plus made-to-order egg, pancake and omelette stations — with a glass of sparkling wine if you like. Dinner is à la carte until 10.30 pm, the second restaurant with its chef-driven menu stands right on the beach, and the lobby bar is open 24/7.
Plan a few things ahead: the four beach cabanas are free but go fast — reserve early; take the pottery and painting classes at the start of your stay, since pieces need at least three days to dry; the hammam and sauna are free without booking from 9 am to 8 pm, while massages and cosmetology treatments at the spa cost extra. Kids House takes children aged 4–12 free of charge; babysitting for younger ones is paid.
A bonus that is easy to miss: guests can use the neighbouring Ali Bey Manavgat with its waterpark and restaurants — a lifesaver if the children ask for more action. BIJAL itself is for quiet and privacy; the ruins of Side and the Temple of Apollo are a pleasant walk along the shore.
