A good way to meet Bahrain for the first time: the resort stands on a scenic stretch of the Persian Gulf shore in Budaiya, a district of the capital Manama, letting you combine a beach holiday with the city in a single trip.
The interiors are contemporary with authentic decorative touches: the rare photographs of old Bahrain are not there for show — they trace the country's ancient history and give the place its character.
The beach is the resort's own, sandy, with a gentle slope into the water; there is also a separate ladies' beach — a detail that matters in this region.
Families have plenty to work with: the on-site amusement park runs animals and birds, trampolines, entertainment, fire shows and workshops, and children get face painting on top.
The international airport is 25 minutes away by car, the city centre with its biggest shopping malls — 15. A calm family holiday from which the city is an easy outing.
