The hotel is very well located. Just 1.5 hours' drive from the airport, right on the beachfront, and it is also a convenient starting point for excursions to different corners of Sri Lanka.
And you will certainly want to go somewhere: the hotel grounds are small, and Kalutara has no tourist promenades with restaurants, shops and clubs — so after sunset, lovers of lively nightlife will simply get bored.
So the first 'but': the hotel suits those who appreciate a calm, unhurried holiday under the sun by the ocean — but not party-goers.
At the same time, the hotel is well worth considering for travellers who plan to spend their whole trip actively exploring the island rather than sitting in the hotel all day.
Of course, there are still ways to stretch your legs and stay active at Hibiscus Beach. There is a fitness room, courts for badminton and volleyball, and outdoor pools.
