Honest review
A slice of Las Vegas on Hainan: MGM Grand stands on Yalong Bay — one of the most scenic bays in the world — and joins American scale, Eastern hospitality and tropical nature. This is a resort for people who want a show as well as a beach.
Evenings here genuinely never go quiet: stage shows, parties, music events, nightlife. Days run the opposite way: gardens, lagoons, the sea and SHO Spa, built around water, light and music.
The room stock is large — more than 670 rooms, from designer rooms to suites and private beach villas. For a romantic trip, we suggest looking at the Lagoon Suite: a private terrace and direct access to the resort's lagoon.
There is plenty of food, and it varies — up to a dozen restaurants and bars, from international buffets to fine dining. Add a fitness centre, tennis courts and water sports.
Who it suits: those who want to combine a relaxed beach holiday with a bright evening programme. Don't expect intimate seclusion at this scale — and that is a deliberate choice.
